Newcastle United stopper Freddie Woodman has struggled for first-team appearance at St. James’ Park.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is desperate to keep Freddie Woodman, but he may well depart.

The youngster is highly regarded at St. James’ Park, but he remains third choice at Newcastle.

Woodman has been unable to dislodge either Martin Dubravka or Karl Darlow, as he fights for game-time on Tyneside.

The England youth international could now reportedly look to move on, with interest rising in the Newcastle talent.

A host of Premier League sides are said to be keen to buy Woodman from Newcastle.

Benitez wants to reject all offers at keep Woodman on Tyneside, but the Spanish boss knows the decision isn’t as simple as that, as the goalkeeper’s contract is running down.

And Woodman is said to have rejected all offers of a new deal, as he wants more first-team assurances if he is to stay on.
