It seems as though there are exciting times ahead for Newcastle United.

Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed and his billionaire Bin Zayed group have been trying to buy the Magpies from Mike Ashley for £350 million (talkSPORT).

Should the takeover go through, there should be some exciting names linked with a move to Newcastle.

And one player whom the Toon should target to begin their revolution is Chelsea ace Ross Barkley.

The 27-capped England international joined the Blues from Everton for £15 million in January 2018 (BBC Sport), but he has been far from a first-team regular, making just 15 Premier League starts.

Barkley is a wonderfully gifted midfielder, and he possesses all of the attributes that Newcastle currently lack in the middle of the park, what with his composure when in possession and his impressive array of passing.

Whilst the Magpies could be viewed as a step down from Chelsea, the 25-year-old would surely jump at the chance of guaranteed football, and playing in front of 52,000 passionate Geordies every other week would also be an attractive prospect.

Whether Chelsea will be interested in selling Barkley is unclear, but should Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed complete his takeover at St James' Park, Newcastle will have more than enough financial muscle to test the west London outfit's resolve.

And bringing Barkley to the North East would be a real statement signing from the Toon.
