The Liverpool winger has been linked with an exit this summer.

Liverpool ace Xherdan Shaqiri spoke to reporters after his side’s Champions League final victory over Tottenham on Saturday night, and seemed to hint that he plans to stay at Anfield despite being linked with the exit door, as quoted by the Express.

The Switzerland international, 27, joined the Reds from Stoke City in the summer of 2018, for around £13 million according to BBC Sport, but he hasn’t been a regular starter for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.

Goal claimed earlier this month that Liverpool could sell Shaqiri this summer in order to fund other moves.

Jurgen Klopp did admit recently, however, that the diminutive Swiss ace is an important player for his team, when speaking exclusively to Viasport Fotball:

“What a wonderful player, what a wonderful ambassador for his country. So I’m really happy to have him around. I know people think I didn’t play him around often enough. He thinks probably the same. But what an important player for us all the season.”

And now Shaqiri himself seems to have hinted that he plans to stay at Liverpool, as quoted by the Express:

“Is this why I came to Liverpool? Yes. This club needs to win titles, and it’s a good start to win this one, no? Now next year we are going to go again and try to win the Premier League. That’s my big dream, to win the Premier League with this club.”

Liverpool will be desperate to go one step further in the Premier League next season and lift the top flight trophy for the first time since 1990.

And judging by his comments, it seems as though Shaqiri will be hanging around to help his team achieve that.
