Watford’s forward line is an area in which Javi Gracia could look to strengthen this summer.

The agent of Strasbourg striker Lebo Mothiba has claimed Watford are interested in signing his client.

Mothiba has scored or made 15 goals in 39 games since his €4 million (£3.5 million) transfer from Lille a year ago.

But speaking to Soccer Laduma in the 23-year-old’s native South Africa, Jihed Taniche insisted another move isn’t on the cards unless either they or Strasbourg receive an offer too good to refuse.

“Lebo had a great first season with Strasbourg,” he said. “So there’s no surprise that there’s been interest from other clubs. Watford in England are interested, but Lebo has just started the process for a French passport so unless there’s an offer we or Strasbourg can’t refuse then he will be staying here.”

Soccer Laduma state that while a big-money transfer is likely to aid Mothiba’s chances of securing the work permit required to play in English football, a French passport would guarantee him access.

Only one of Watford’s recognised strikers, Troy Deeney (11), hit double figures for goals last season.

And the Hornets’ forward line is an area in which Javi Gracia could look to strengthen this summer.

Would Mothiba be a good addition for Watford?
