Liam Henderson was on the books of Celtic from 2008 until 2018, but the midfielder struggled to establish himself as a regular in the first team.

The 23-year-old Scotsman made 36 appearances for the Celtic first team during his time at Celtic Park, as reported on BBC Sport, and he also had loan spells at Rosenborg and Hibernian.

In January 2018, Celtic sold Henderson to Bari in Serie B when Brendan Rodgers - now the manager of Premier League club Leicester City - was in charge of the Hoops.

Henderson left Bari in the summer of 2018 and joined Hellas Verona in Serie B, and the midfielder has now helped the club gain promotion to Serie A.

Verona have got the better of Cittadella in the playoffs, and next season they will take on the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Henderson will be competing against world-class players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Miralem Pjanic.

The 23-year-old former Celtic midfielder has taken to Twitter to revel in his success, and Aston Villa star John McGinn is pleased for his former Scotland youth sides’ teammate.

McGinn will play in the Premier League next season after helping Villa clinch promotion via the playoffs.
