Ionut Radu enjoyed a fine Serie A campaign on loan at Genoa from Inter Milan but is he moving to the Premier League with Arsenal?

Arsenal are interested in signing Romanian goalkeeper Ionut Radu this summer. That is what the player’s agent has told FC Inter News anyway.

The 22-year-old is contracted to Serie A giants Inter Milan but was little more than an unknown prospect before joining Genoa on loan in June of last year. 12 months on, however, Radu is far from an unknown these days, having massively enhanced his reputation during a superb season in Italy’s top flight.

Radu was instrumental as Genoa avoided relegation by goal difference alone with the youngster’s displays casting doubt on his long term future at the San Siro.

Speaking to FCInterNews, his agent Crescenzo Cecero has admitted that a number of big European clubs have made inquiries – with Arsenal among them.

“There are so many teams involved, including Lyon. Recently, there was also an Arsenal inquiry. Radu is a very interesting prospect since he is growing a lot,” Cecero said.

Arsenal are in need of another goalkeeper this summer with Petr Cech’s final game in professional football coming in last week’s heartbreaking 4-1 Europa League final defeat to London rivals Chelsea in Baku.

Radu would be expected to provide back-up to German international Bernd Leno at the Emirates with the former Bayer Leverkusen ‘stopper enjoying a promising debut campaign in North London.
