2019's most anticipated games delayed to 2020 - Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last Of Us Part 2

Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last Of Us Part 2 were 2019's most exciting games, yet neither will be available to play this year as they've been delayed to 2020.

The Last Of Us Part 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, two of the most highly-anticipated games that people were praying to play in 2019, have reportedly been delayed to 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 is CD Projekt RED’s newest project since moving on from The Witcher 3, and it’ll apparently feature “next level” gameplay compared to its Witcher brethren.

Meanwhile, The Last Of Us Part 2 is a sequel to Naughty Dog’s magnum opus that was released back in 2013.

Gamers are desperate to play both games as soon as possible, but – unfortunately – it seems neither will be available to play this year.

CD Projekt RED wanted to release Cyberpunk 2077 in 2019

There has been a bevy of rumours that suggested Cyberpunk 2077 would be released in 2019, but that sadly won’t happen according to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.

Per a Twitter post, Schreier has stated that he’s spoken to three sources and they’ve all rejected the notion that Cyberpunk 2077 will be this year’s perfect Christmas present.

CD Projekt RED supposedly wanted Cyberpunk 2077 to launch this year, but it was always an unrealistic aim.

Schreier himself predicts that the ambitious RPG will be released in the first half of 2020, or that a 2019 release will be announced only for a 2020 delay to follow.

The Last Of Us Part 2 internally delayed to 2020

Again from Kotaku’s Schreier, The Last Of Us Part 2 was intended to be launched in Fall 2019, but it has been delayed to early 2020.

With Death Stranding hitting the PlayStation 4 on November 8, this makes sense as Sony would never release two of their biggest first-party titles in the same quarter.

As for when The Last Of Us Part 2 will eventually hit store shelves, Schreier states that it could possibly come out in February.

There’s still a lot to be excited for with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Dragon Quest XI S, The Outer Worlds, Death Stranding, and possibly Watch Dogs 3, but it's a bit of bummer that neither of the two most highly-anticipated games will be available to play in 2019.
