Celtic are in the market for a new midfielder this summer, and they are reportedly closing in on a new signing for Neil Lennon's side.

The Bhoys have been tracking West Bromwich Albion midfielder Rekeem Harper, and the Daily Record claim a deal to bring him to Parkhead is now likely.

Harper, 19, has impressed with the Baggies this season, and with his contract expiring this summer, he can move on to Parkhead for limited compensation.

Harper seems a more likely signing than Joe Aribo at this stage, despite The Scottish Sun claiming that Lennon was ramping up his interest in the Charlton Athletic talent.

With Harper seemingly heading to Glasgow, there may not be room for Aribo anymore given the existing options at Lennon's disposal, and that should boost Aston Villa.

The Sun reported last week that Villa were leading the race for Aribo, and Harper's seemingly imminent move to Celtic may just push Aribo closer to Villa.

The 22-year-old is available in a bargain move given that his contract also expires this summer, and the lure of playing in the Premier League may be too good to ignore.

With skill, athleticism and creativity, Aribo could be a major addition to the Villa midfield, and they may well be hoping that Celtic look to Harper in order to free up Aribo.
