Origi scored the second goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Premier League rivals Tottenham in the final of the Champions League.
The Belgium international striker found the net in the 87th minute, as the Reds won the Champions League for the sixth time in their history.
The 24-year-old also scored the winning goal in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Barcelona at Anfield in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie, which saw them progress to the final 4-3 on aggregate.
Newcastle United legend Shearer was following the match, and he has raved about the former Lille star.
Shearer wrote in The Sun: “And Origi produced an outstanding finish once again. I was at the semi-final against Barcelona at Anfield and he was immense. To produce another incredible finish in the final is massive credit to his drive and belief.
“When he was away on loan he couldn’t even get any game time — and he has it tough in this Liverpool team as that front three are impossible to budge.
“But what a two months it has been for him. He has written himself into the history books at Liverpool Football Club.”
Future at Liverpool?
Origi scored two hugely important goals for Liverpool this season, but it is hard to see the Belgium international stay at Anfield beyond the summer.
The Belgian is not guaranteed a place in the Liverpool starting lineup, and the striker himself may want to find a club where they can play regularly.
