Neutral fans on Twitter are laying into Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham were beaten Champions League finalists on Saturday night as Liverpool beat Pochettino's side 2-0 in Madrid to win the competition for a sixth time.
The Spurs boss raised eyebrows before the game by starting Harry Kane up front instead of Lucas Moura, who scored the second-half hat-trick away at Ajax which ensured the North Londoners reached the final.
Kane hadn't kicked a ball for Tottenham in close to two months, and it showed as he struggled to escape Virgil van Dijk for 90 minutes last night.
And here's how neutral fans reacted to what looks like a major error.
Pochettino is a top manager and credit to him for reaching the Final, but to drop Lucas Moura who scored a hat-trick in Semi-Finals for Harry Kane is a sackable offence.— City Chief (@City_Chief) June 1, 2019
Harry Kane starting over Lucas Moura was a terrible decision but nobody will knock Poch for it— Thomas Manders (@elvinho1993) June 2, 2019
i feel sorry for Lucas amours tbh. got spurs into the final by scoring all 3 goals and a hat trick, only to be dropped for Harry Kane who wasn’t fully fit and also had a stinker.— doyen (@Trentinhoe) June 2, 2019
can’t imagine how he feels tbh
Lucas benched, joke of a club— Max (@ftblmax42) June 1, 2019
Lucas should start in place of Deli Ali— Karim B (@KB4000) June 1, 2019
Why would they drop Lucas♂️— MAYUR HUMPHRIES ❼ (@MayurH45) June 1, 2019
You know the thing? If Poch started Lucas not Kane and still lost, it's this same you people that would say he should have started Kane instead .— Mufu Olosha Jnr. (@zankuteacher) June 1, 2019
Pochettino is tactically limited. massive bullet dodged by @ManUtd. heavy reliance on star man Harry Kane. No brainer Lucas Moura deserved the start. Poch blew the only chance to win a major silverware— レバ海道 (@RetiredBadBoy) June 1, 2019
Poch lost this final..— Dave (El Padrino) (@DavidOnodu) June 1, 2019
Kane has no right starting ahead of Lucas Moura..
No right at all
You can understand Pochettino's dilemma because, after all, it's Kane, one of the world's most lethal number nines.
Then again, he wasn't fit and Lucas was the sole reason as to why Pochettino's side reached the final in the first place and maybe, just maybe, he should have started the Brazilian and used Kane as the super sub instead.
