Liverpool are the champions of Europe yet again, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid on Saturday night – something Ronald Koeman was able to celebrate.

Jurgen Klopp's side appeared to be in a hurry, as they were awarded a penalty inside the first 30 seconds, with Moussa Sissoko handling Sadio Mane's cross.

Mohamed Salah stepped up to score, and whilst Tottenham had plenty of possession and neat passages of play, they couldn't get back into the game.

Liverpool took the game away from Spurs late on, with Divock Origi's strike beating Hugo Lloris to make it 2-0, sealing the win and another European Cup for Liverpool.

That's number six in their history, and a year on from losing 3-1 to Real Madrid, Liverpool are back at the summit of European football.

After the final whistle, Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman – who of course had a spell as Everton manager – took to Twitter to praise two of his players, as Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum both started for Liverpool.

Liverpool fans loved the tweet, jokingly calling Koeman 'Ronnie the Red', whilst noting that he loves Liverpool despite his ties to Everton.

Everton supporters were far from happy, branding Koeman a 'stain' on the club and worse than Sam Allardyce, voicing their discontent with his tweet.
