Jordan Lyden is leaving Aston Villa, but the 23-year-old defensive midfielder does not seem to be short on offers, as reported in The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 59, Sunday, June 2, 2019).
Lyden joined Villa back in 2012, and much was expected of the Australian at Villa Park, but things have not turned out as planned.
The former Australia Under-20 international failed to establish himself in the Villa first team and made only a handful of appearances for the senior side.
The 23-year-old spent the first half of the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Oldham Athletic, scoring one goal in 10 appearances in League One, according to WhoScored.
The defensive midfielder had injury issues during his time at Villa, and in March 2019, he revealed on Instagram that he is leaving the Villans.
The youngster, though, is wanted by as many as three clubs, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 59, Sunday, June 2, 2019).
It has been reported by the British tabloid that League One club Southend United are leading the chase for the Lyden.
The report has also claimed of interest in the Australian from Tranmere Rovers - who will play in League One next season after getting promoted from League Two - and Rotherham United, who got relegated from the Championship.
