Locations tend to be of particular importance to Christopher Nolan‘s work; he’s previously taken us around the world and across space, but where will Tenet take us? It’s swiftly become one of the most anticipated movies of 2020, and as has been the case with his work prior, his latest is being billed as an event movie.
In classic Nolan fashion, the finer details are being kept firmly under wraps. However, we already know enough to make us incredibly excited. Let’s explore the mysterious world of the master director’s Tenet.
Where is Tenet set?
As confirmed by Business Wire, Nolan’s new film is being filmed across seven countries.
This already gives us a sense of the broad scale he is going for. We always knew it would be an ambitious project though – we’d expect no less.
Although plot details are currently unavailable, the film is being called an international espionage thriller. Essentially, fans of the spy sub-genre will finally get to see what Nolan can bring to the genre. Our guess is a lot. So, where are these locations?

Tenet filming locations
Since the international spy movie was announced, we’ve been wondering where it will shoot.
As mentioned, we know that it’s filming across seven countries, and while not all of these seven locations are available just yet, we do know some.
According to IMDb, three shooting locations have been confirmed; Tallinn (Estonia), Mumbai (India) and Ravello (Italy). Fans quickly guessed the second location when renowned Indian film actress Dimple Kapadia was introduced to the cast, which also includes the likes of Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and more.
#ChristopherNolan was on recce in Mumbai in Feb, April. Returns back towards mid Sept to shoot some portions of #Tenet w/ #DimpleKapadia & few H’wood stars. Will shoot around Gateway of India & Colaba Market. Major chase sequence on the cards.
