The Citizens and Germany ace is a fan favourite at the Etihad Stadium but is being courted by Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champions will be losing two of the club's most iconic players of recent times as Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery prepare to leave the Allianz Arena.
With both Bayern legends being wide players, the club is now looking for reinforcements in those positions and, as stated last week by chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Sane is on their radar.
While this will alleviate fan fears for the time being, the outlet does also say that Bayern will now consider whether they are to make a new, improved bid.
Sane received a relatively low amount of starts under Pep Guardiola last term, making the XI just 21 times in the Premier League (Transfermarkt), and while he has been offered a new, improved deal, he is reportedly reluctant to sign it.
Guardiola is nonetheless eager to retain the wideman's services, telling reporters after their FA Cup final triumph: "We offered to extend his contract. We want him to stay. What proof is more than for six, seven months we want to extend his contract? If we don’t want him, we don’t extend his contract."
Sane, who has been urged by many fans on Twitter to sign a new deal over the past few months (an example of fan reaction on one such post), has made 133 appearances for Man City in all competitions since his 2016 move from Schalke 04, scoring 39 goals and notching up 45 assists (Transfermarkt).
