Tottenham Hotspur might just be busy in the transfer market this summer.
Guillem Balague claimed that there could be some big names leaving Tottenham this summer, when speaking during a guest appearance on BBC Radio Five live last night (Thursday May 30th).
Spurs are on the verge of creating history, with Liverpool standing in their way of their first ever Champions League trophy, but whatever happens in Madrid, there will likely be plenty of transfer activity at the football club in the summer.
Mauricio Pochetitno will surely be keen to strengthen his Tottenham squad, but there might just be some high profile exits too.
Toby Alderweireld has a £25 million release clause inserted into his current contract, with the Sun claiming that he is a priory target for Manchester United.
Christian Eriksen, meanwhile, has also been linked with an exit, with Spanish media outlet AS claiming that Real Madrid are prepared to pay around £60 million for his signature.
And Balague suggested that there could be some high profile exits from Tottenham this summer, when speaking during a guest appearance on BBC Radio Five live last night:
“I think what he’s trying to tell everybody, the media, the fans, the president [chairman Daniel Levy], the players - ‘On the 2nd of June, something new is going to start here.’ That means you may get it right or wrong in the market but it’ll be big names that will have to disappear. That’s it.”
If Tottenham do end up selling some of their key players, they will obviously have to replace them accordingly.
Whether Pochettino will be provided with the funds to do just that, however, remains to be seen.
