Digne only joined the Toffees last summer for La Liga champions Barcelona for a reported fee of £18 million and he has been nothing short of exceptional. The Frenchman won the club's player of the season award after an incredible debut campaign at Goodison Park which saw him create a staggering 52 chances - the most by a defender in Europe's top five leagues.
Morgan Schneiderlin was full of praise for his fellow countryman and claimed that he was as good as any left-back he had ever played with.
"He has amazing technical ability and can run up and down. I hope he can be at the Club for a long time. Lucas is the kind of guy you can go to war with. He is a big character and, for sure, he is as good a left-back as I have played with," he said.
That is some praise coming from a player who has shared dressing rooms with Premier League legends like Patrice Evra and Leighton Baines.
The former Manchester United midfielder also claimed that Digne's exceptional skills on the ball in attack are down to his appetite and hard work in training.
Schneiderlin continued: "He is that kind of player who always demands a lot – from himself and the team. He runs a lot and every day he is trying to improve his shooting. It is amazing what he does."
Everton fans, like Schneiderlin, will be hoping that Digne will stay at the club for a long time. But, if his fantastic performances continue next season, he will surely attract a ton of interest from the bigger clubs in Europe.
