The Real Madrid star would be an excellent addition for Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino manager

Tottenham are on the verge of creating history this season, with a Champions League final against Liverpool on the horizon.

Whatever happens in Madrid, however, Mauricio Pochettino absolutely must strengthen his Spurs squad in the summer, if they are to challenge for major honours against next term.

One particular area where Tottenham might be looking to bolster is their attacking midfield department, with Christian Eriksen's future in north London far from certain.

There have been rumours that Spurs are lining up a £53 million bid for Giovani Lo Celso (BBC Sport), but there could be a better, and cheaper, option out there for them.

Real Madrid ace Martin Odegaard, who earns £80,000 per week according to the Daily Mail, has really struggled for regular action since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in January 2015.

He has spent three separate loan spells away from the club, and according to the Daily Mail, he is available on loan once again this summer.

And he would be perfect for Tottenham.

Pochettino should attempt to sign him on an initial loan with an option to make the deal permanent the following season.

Odegaard was in fine form for Vitesse this season, racking up 11 goals an 12 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.

The Norwegian can play anywhere along the front-line, and he would be a great replacement for his fellow Scandanavian Christian Eriksen, should the Dane ups sticks this summer.

The 20-year-old is a real talent, and he could really flourish under Pochettino at Tottenham.

Odegaard could be available for just €20 million (£17 million) this summer, according to Spanish publication Marca, and in today's day and age, that would surely represent excellent value for money.
