The Liverpool winger hasn’t played as much as he would have liked this season.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp raved about Xherdan Shaqiri, when speaking exclusively to Viasport Fotball, labelling the Swiss star as a ‘wonderful player’.

The 27-year-old joined the Reds from Stoke City in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth £13 million according to BBC Sport, but he has failed to have make the impact that was expected of him.

It could be argued that Shaqiri hasn’t been given enough chances to shine at Liverpool, however, with just 11 Premier League starts to his name this season.

The Switzerland international’s future at Anfield is unclear, with the Daily Mail reporting that he could be sold this summer.

That report seems to be off the mark, however, judging by Klopp’s comments on the Liverpool winger, who earns £80,000 per week according to Spotrac.

The German spoke exclusively to Viasport Fotball, and absolutely raved about the diminutive left-footer:

“What a wonderful player, what a wonderful ambassador for his country. So I’m really happy to have him around. I know people think I didn’t play him around often enough. He thinks probably the same. But what an important player for us all the season.”

Shaqiri will surely be keen to play more regularly, and if he is not given any guarantees regarding that at Liverpool, he might be keen to leave Merseyside in the summer, in the hope of finding a club that values him more.
