Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has broken his silence on those ongoing links with Liverpool, admitting to ZeroZero that he is proud to have caught the eye of the Premier League runners up.
The Portugal international shone as Wolves cruised to the Championship title last year and he looked at home in the Premier League too as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League.
Neves’ exceptional displays have also apparently caught the eye of Liverpool with FourFourTwo reporting last summer that he was in talks about a potential move to Anfield which never materialised.
"It is obvious that it is a pride to be able to take the name of Portugal further, for that is the goal,” Neves said, before making it clear that he was not interested in discussing a transfer with the Nations League title in Portugal’s sights.
“But it is not the moment to think about the future, we have a competition to win. We are focused on the next game with Switzerland (the semi-final).”
Neves committed his future to Wolves until 2023 last year when he signed a new long-term deal so Liverpool would have to break the bank if they wanted to sign a player who scored a stunning long-rage strike against them in the FA Cup back in January.
