The teenage Leeds United midfielder, Morten Spencer, has shared his reaction to Sunderland's play-off failure on Instagram.
Spencer swapped Sunderland's youth system for Leeds' earlier this year, having spent the past six on the Mackems' books.
The 15-year-old was offered a scholarship deal to stay at the Stadium of Light, but chose to join the Whites despite having interest from other clubs including Middlesbrough and Manchester City.
And there do not appear to be any regrets on Spencer's part, who posted the following to his Instagram story after Sunderland's 2-1 defeat to Charlton at Wembley on Sunday.
Sunderland took an early lead over Charlton in freak fashion, after Naby Sarr's pass-back bypassed Dillion Phillips and into the Addicks' goal.
But a Ben Purrington equaliser and Patrick Bauer winner, four minutes into second-half stoppage time, ensured it is the London side that will meet Spencer's Leeds in next season's Championship.
Where do Sunderland go from here?
