Premier League Norwich City have reportedly looked at Liverpool and Burnley’s benchwarmers with Alex McCarthy also on their radar.
Norwich City are looking at a bargain move for Croatian goalkeeper Simon Sluga after being priced out deals for Joe Hart, Simon Mignolet and Alex McCarthy, according to the Mail.
Daniel Farke’s Canaries soared back to the Premier League after winning the Championship title but a record of 57 goals conceded has cast plenty of doubts on whether the erratic Tim Krul is ready for a return to the top flight.
As a result, Norwich are expected to have a new number one in place for the start of the 2019/20 season with The Mail reporting that the Anglian outfit have looked at three established Premier League goalkeepers.
Hart and Mignolet need a fresh start after falling out of favour at Burnley and Liverpool respectively while McCarthy has lost his place to Angus Gunn at Southampton.
According to the Mail, however, Norwich are operating on a limited budget and therefore cannot afford to bring any of the aforementioned trio to Carrow Road.
Instead, they have focused on Rijeka stopper Sluga. Goal reported last week that the 26-year-old, who saved a penalty as Rikeja beat Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian Cup final last week, is available for just £1.8 million.
