Harry Wilson comments on future amid Leeds and Wolves speculation

Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Liverpool-owned Derby County winger Harry Wilson.

Harry Wilson is a player in demand, with Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the Liverpool winger, who is now on loan at Derby County.

Wilson joined Derby in the Championship on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Liverpool in the summer of 2018.

The 22-year-old winger has been superb for the Rams this season, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists in 42 Championship appearances, according to WhoScored.

 

The youngster’s performances have reportedly attracted the interest of a number of clubs.

According to The Sun, Wolves and Leeds United are interested in signing Wilson either on loan or on a permanent contract in the summer transfer window, while Sky Sports have reported that Newcastle United and Southampton want the 22-year-old.

The Sun has also claimed of interest in Wilson from Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion, and has reported that Derby want to keep hold of the Wales international if they win against Aston Villa in the Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium in London on Monday afternoon.

Wilson, though, does not seem to be worried about his future, and the winger has stated that after his loan spell at Derby ends, he will have a pre-season with Liverpool and will take it from there.

The Wales international winger has also revealed that he has been in touch with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Derby manager Frank Lampard has also given his take on the future of Wilson.

Wilson told The Guardian: “There is a loan guy called Jools [Julian Ward]; I am in touch with him and he reports back to the manager. I have had a few texts off [Jurgen Klopp].

“It’s good to know you are not being forgotten. I wanted to come to a good football team so I could showcase what I could do.

“Hopefully the manager has seen the games on TV and I’ve made a good impression. I’ll go back there pre-season; what happens from there I don’t know.”

Lampard told The Derby Telegraph: “I don't know, and I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions about what Liverpool might do or what other clubs might want to pay for him."

The Derby manager added: "Whatever Harry's options, decisions, are after this he deserves them because he has worked hard all year.”
