Liverpool are reportedly sneaking into the race for Joao Pedro.
According to Globo Esporte, Liverpool are making moves to try and hijack Watford’s deal for Fluminense striker Joao Pedro.
Having landed Richarlison from Fluminense in a masterstroke of a move in 2017, Watford have attempted to repeat the trick by setting up a deal for teenager Joao Pedro.
Joao Pedro, 17, has made a sensational start to life in the Fluminense first team, smashing five goals in just two games, averaging a goal every 22 minutes.
That’s hugely exciting for Watford as they prepare for his arrival in January, but there may yet be problems for the Hornets, as their deal for Joao Pedro has a break clause in it.
It’s stated by Globo Esporte that Fluminense would have to pay £17.5million to Watford in order to cancel their deal, but if another clubs offers a big fee, they’ll still manage to make profit.
That situation is interesting a number of clubs, and it’s believed that Liverpool have already been making moves to try and swoop in and lure Joao Pedro to Anfield instead.
That would be quite the hijacking by the Reds, and potentially adding one of Brazil’s most exciting talents to Jurgen Klopp’s already vaunted attack.
