With the veteran midfielder’s long association with Athletic Bilbao coming to an end, Leeds have been tipped to snap him up on a free transfer (AS).
Marcelo Bielsa worked with Iturraspe during his spell in charge at the San Mames between 2011/13 with the now-30-year-old one of the first names on the esteemed coach’s team sheet as Bilbao reached the Copa Del Rey and the Europa League final.
But Leeds are not alone in offering Iturraspe a fresh start.
PAOK are preparing an approach to bring the two-time Spain international to Greece and their offer could be rather tempting.
The Salonika side won the Super League for the first time in 34 years in 2018/19 – and in style too. PAOK won 26 of their 30 games and drew the other four, meaning they became Greece’s answer to that ‘Invincible’ Arsenal side from 15 years ago.
PAOK have also been rewarded with an automatic place in the second qualifying round for the Champions League.
So what chance do Leeds have now after missing out on promotion back to the Premier League yet again?
