Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich won’t be signing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, so is he on the way to the Premier League with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool?

Five years ago, James Rodriguez was arguably the rising star of world football.

After exploding on to the scene at the Brazilian World Cup, winning the Golden Boot after firing home five goals for a free-flowing Colombia side, James became Real Madrid’s latest Galactico for a staggering £63 million (the Guardian).

In short, this most gifted of play-makers looked to have a one-way ticket to the very top of the game. So few would have predicted that, in the summer of 2019, he would find himself out of favour at Real Madrid and on his way out of Bayern Munich after a rather underwhelming two-year loan spell in the Bundesliga.

According to Sky, Bayern will not be signing James for just £37 million after this old-school number ten struggled to win over head coach Niko Kovac.

And a player who would have walked into any side in Europe just a few years ago now faces a very uncertain future. According to the Mirror, Liverpool are interested but even their fans are not keen on the idea of James making the switch to Anfield.

Few players have seen their reputation erode quite so quickly.
