Ron Gourley is hardly the most popular man in Reading right now.

According to Goal, the club’s former chief executive decided against tying down academy graduate Danny Loader to a long-term contract during his time at the Madejski.

But since then, the 18-year-old has gone from strength to strength with Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves, Southampton and Leicester City expressing an interest. And with just 12 months remaining on his current deal, Reading could be forced to sell one of their most exciting talents for as little as £3 million.

Goal adds that there is interest from Germany and France too while even Serie A champions Juventus have expressed an interest in Loader, an U17 World Cup winner with England.

But what do Reading fans think about this whole rather unfortunate situation? Well, with just 12 months left on Loader’s contract, it seems that the majority would be happy to cash in on the teenager now to avoid losing him on a free.

Loader did catch the eye last season but, with just one goal in 21 Championship games to his name, it is not like The Royals are about to bid farewell to a talisman.
