Leeds talent Aapo Halme had a successful 2018/19.
Leeds United fans fear the club have seen the last of centre-back Pontus Jansson at Elland Road after their play-off defeat.
Whether those worries come to realisation, or are proven unfounded, Leeds already have a player capable of stepping up.
Young centre-back Aapo Halme has been a revelation this season, looking composed beyond his years when he has stepped up to the first team.
Leeds signed the Finnish youth international in January 2018, but injuries meant he barely even played for the under-23s last season.
By December he had done enough to earn a first team call amid an injury crisis, and was thrown in against Sheffield United.
Halme acquitted himself well, dealing with Billy Sharp as Leeds won at Bramall Lane.
The youngster just turned 21 a few days ago and has outstanding potential. He ended the season starring for the under-23s as they won silverware.
He needs to play regularly in order to develop, and while there is no easy path to the first team at Leeds, if Jansson did depart, the club should be confident they have a player capable of replacing him.
