West Ham United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Kevin Strootman on loan this summer.
A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from Sky Sports which have claimed that the Hammers are one of the Premier League sides to have been offered Kevin Strootman on loan ahead of next season.
Sky Sports reports that Marseille are looking to cut costs this summer, and the £23 million signing from 12 months ago is one of those who could be on his way out of Stade Velodrome during the coming months.
And it appears that he could be on his way to the Premier League. Sky Sports reports that the Hammers have been offered the Dutchman on loan, while Everton and Manchester United have also received similar approaches.
Strootman has made 27 Ligue 1 appearances this season, scoring once and contributing five assists. It does appear that he has put the majority of his injury problems behind him, but the reports have still attracted a mixed response from the Irons fans on social media.
Strootman had made just 11 league appearances during a two-season spell with Roma, and some West Ham fans are wary of taking a gamble on the 29-year-old, even if they can get him on loan.
However, there are also a number of supporters who believe that Strootman is the kind of player that Manuel Pellegrini should be taking a gamble on this summer given his quality.
Here is how some of the West Ham fans have reacted to the reports on Strootman…
West Ham offered Strootman? I’d take him— d a m o (@_dr84) May 22, 2019
No. No. No. Please, no.— Ash (@hxmmerboy) May 22, 2019
I have my doubts, especially nearly 30 years old. There’s a reason why he’s not been in the Netherlands squad for some time.— Gez Barton (@bartong2011) May 23, 2019
I hope not!— DanielJames (@_JustForBants) May 22, 2019
I’d take Strootman all day long at the right price wouldn’t really fancy it on loan https://t.co/yH6279V9fy— Matthew Rowe (@WHUFCMatthew) May 22, 2019
Decent if you can keep him fit, but do we need another one of them? Got rid of Carrol, Nazri and still have Wilshire, don’t need substantial wages never being available and sat in the stands in my opinion— Josh Price (@joshprice71) May 22, 2019
