Tottenham Hotspur youngster has a big summer ahead.

If you told Marcus Edwards two or three years ago that Tottenham would be in the Champions League final in 2019, he would have hoped to be part of it.
Presently his prospects don’t look bleak, but they don’t look brilliant either.
This past season has been Edwards’ best yet in his career. Unfortunately there was a very low bar.
The youngster once compared to Lionel Messi by Mauricio Pochettino needed a reset year after a disastrous 2017/18, and he got one.
Back then he was stagnating for the under-23s, before joining Norwich on loan mid-season. His attitude was questioned by Canaries boss Daniel Farke, and he didn’t start a game.
Spurs sent him out on loan to Excelsior in Holland this season and Edwards has knuckled down and showed his professionalism, which had been called into question. As a basic first step, it’s positive.

He scored two goals in 25 games and provided four assists. It wasn’t enough to take Holland by storm, but it was steady progress, playing in a relegation threatened side.
Now with his first professional goals and a run of games under his belt, Edwards returns to Spurs, where the standard is higher than ever.
At 20, he can’t afford another wasted year. Mauricio Pochettino may not be able to offer him the game time he needs.
Another loan spell might be a good option if Spurs are impressed by him, otherwise moving on permanently may be in everybody’s interests.
