Rocketman packs plenty of Elton John songs but just which ones made it into the film?

Elton John biopic Rocketman hits cinemas this week and it packs in plenty of songs from the legendary musician. As well as seeing Taron Egerton’s Elton perform songs on stage, a lot of Elton John’s songs are given the musical treatment and therefore might go under the radar for some.

But just which songs made it into the fantastical film?

Of course, with a film titled Rocketman, Elton’s arguably best-known song makes it into the film in not one but two places, both in slightly fantasy-themed dream sequences.

We get superb renditions of Crocodile Rock, Saturday Night’s Alright and Tiny Dancer, all given the musical treatment by Taron Egerton as well as I’m Still Standing, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word and brand new addition (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again, written and performed especially for the film.

There are plenty of less well-known songs that feature in Rocketman too including The Bitch is Back which opens the film with a young Reggie singing along as well as I Want Love and Border Song which make appearances through the film.

Turning the film and Elton’s songs was an interesting creative choice, that differs from Queen’s biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, and did give Elton’s iconic songs a nice new twist, belted out by a surprisingly good Taron Egerton.

For users of the streaming service Spotify, a playlist of all 32 songs can be found just below and the official album of the soundtrack is set to release on Friday, May 24 inline with the US release of the film.
