Scottish Premiership runners-up Rangers are reportedly set to sign Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool.
After the success of Ryan Kent, it seems another highly-rated Liverpool winger is on his way to Rangers.
According to the Telegraph, Sheyi Ojo is set to sign a new long-term contract at Anfield before joining Steven Gerrard’s side on loan. And if he replicates Kent’s impact in Glasgow, Ojo will be a huge hit north of the border.
The 21-year-old will already have one firm supporter at Ibrox – Rangers’ first-team coach Michael Beale.
After all, Beale coached Ojo during his formative years at Anfield and he clearly rates the former MK Dons youngster very highly indeed.
“Sheyi has got a lot of potential. Let’s not forget he is still only 18 but he is more aware of what assets he can bring to a game and what his strengths are,” Beale told This is Anfield back in 2016.
“He is also working very well at what we are asking him to do when he is out of possession, and I am really pleased with him. Sheyi has got a lot of potential and you always want more because that is the nature of football and we know what he is capable of.”
Ojo has so far failed to build on his initial promise at Anfield, spending time on loan at Wigan, Wolves and Fulham before failing to impress in 13 Ligue 1 games during a forgettable spell at Reims last season.
And it remains to be seen if he is more Kent than Ovie Ejaria at Ibrox with the winger set to become the latest Anfield starlet to hone his trade under Steven Gerrard.
Ojo is set to join two other wingers, Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie, at Ibrox.
