Ostersunds technical director David Webb has told Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt that they want to sign Bassala Sambou, but admitted that they are not the only team interested in the Everton youngster.

Sambou's future appears to lie away from Goodison Park. Fotboll Direkt reports that the 21-year-old is out of contract this summer, and he is yet to make his senior debut for the Toffees following his move to Merseyside in 2016.

The former Coventry City man has made 22 appearances for the club's under-23s this past season and has gone on to score nine goals. And Webb - who previously worked with Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth - has now confirmed that he would like to bring him to Ostersunds when his deal expires, but conceded that they are expecting competition.

"We have not offered him any contract yet, but we have followed the player carefully and if we can recruit him we think he can do well with us. However, we are not the only club that follows him and wants him," he told Fotboll Direkt.

Despite his encouraging goalscoring record, it is not a huge surprise that he looks to be on his way out of Everton this summer. Marco Silva is surely going to strengthen his striker options during the coming months.

But given Ostersunds' impressive recruitment in recent years, it will be interesting to see how Sambou's career progresses if he does end up heading to Sweden in the summer.

The Toffees will probably not end up kicking themselves if he ends up proving to be a real success. But a move to Ostersunds could perhaps act as a springboard if he does join and does well.
