We’ve all been wondering who plays Batman in the 2019 Joker movie, but who is it?

Joaquin Phoenix is taking over as the notorious DC Comics villain, but who plays Batman in Joker 2019?

We’ve seen Phoenix excel in recent years, turning in terrific performances across You Were Never Really Here, The Master, Inherent Vice, The Sisters Brothers and more.

However, now that we’ve seen a glimpse of his performance, we’re more concerned about who the film’s Bruce Wayne will be…

Who plays Batman in Joker 2019?

We’ve seen Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck and more portray the caped crusader over the years.

Yet, this is Batman before the cape; a Bruce Wayne unlike any other.

The character of Bruce Wayne/Batman will be played in Joker by Dante Pereira-Olson

Dante-Pereira-Olson movies

You’ve certainly seen him before, and his most recent film role singled him out as an excellent choice.

He actually starred alongside Phoenix in the aforementioned You Were Never Really Here, directed by Lynne Ramsay. Phoenix plays a hitman named Joe plagued by a dark past caught up in a conspiracy. Pereira-Olson actually plays Joe as a child in the film.

So, the actors are no strangers to one another, but here they’re enemies; without even knowing it.

The young actor has also starred in TV series’ Jessica Jones, Mozart in the Jungle and Happy!

Let’s consider how he’ll rank against the others.

Batman actors ranked

As mentioned, we’ve seen numerous actors tackle the part.

Christian Bale is arguably the popular favourite for his recurring role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.

On the contrary, Ben Affleck proved incredibly divisive, with many considering Bale too tough an act to follow. Here, we have an actor portraying the character as a child, providing new insight and perspective on the Bruce Wayne we all think we know.

It’s sure to be a very unique take and one which hopefully leads to further roles.

We’ve actually already seen him…

In the trailer, we see Joker approach a young child and force a smile on his face. That child is, in fact, Bruce Wayne.

Perhaps the film will suggest they were always destined to be enemies.

Of course, he’s just Bruce Wayne at this point and not Batman. However, it’s sure to be a moment of powerful foreshadowing we can’t wait to see when Todd Phillips’ Joker hits cinemas October 4, 2019.
