Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is still not guaranteed to be at St. James' Park next season.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has come away ‘relaxed’ from his meetings with Rafael Benitez so far.

Newcastle fans are becoming anxious over Benitez’s future, with a new contract still not sorted.

Ashley and Benitez have been in dialogue for days now, as the Spanish manager decides whether to stay at Newcastle.

 

But Ashley is not said to be worried about the length of contract talks.

Instead the Magpies' owner is prepared to be patient, as Newcastle look to ensure Benitez signs a new deal.

The popular manager wants assurances given to him over transfers, and he is also said to be in no rush to sign a new deal.

Ashley wants Benitez to be at St. James’ Park next season, and Benitez is keen on sticking around - but he will not do so, unless big changes are made at Newcastle.
