Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron is back in full training.
Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron may not have scored after his club-record arrival from Atlanta United in January, but he certainly made an impression on Magpies fans.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder had been a star in Major League Soccer, helping Atlanta win the 2018 MLS Cup after a superb season.
That was enough for Rafael Benitez to bring him to St James’ Park, shattering the club’s transfer record to secure his services.
Fans were excited about the move from day one, and Almiron produced a number of fine performances, with his blistering pace and dribbling ability really catching the eye.
Sadly, Almiron has yet to register a goal or an assist for Newcastle, and his season came to an abrupt end in April as he suffered a hamstring injury.
Almiron missed the final three games of the season, but was named in the Paraguay squad to prepare for Copa America, with upcoming friendlies against Honduras and Guatemala.
For any Newcastle fans that had lingering concerns about Almiron’s injury, he was spotted in training in the photos published below, and fans will be hoping that he doesn’t suffer any recurrence of his injury during his time on international duty.
