Everton are one of a number of Premier League clubs who reportedly want to sign Bolton Wanderers’ young Irishman Luca Connell.

Luca Connell has admitted to the Irish Examiner that he is a boyhood Everton fan, which surely gives the Toffees as they attempt to bring the Bolton Wanderers starlet to Goodison Park.
The Sun reported earlier this month that Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers were hoping to sign the coveted 18-year-old this summer on the back of his fine breakthrough season at the Macron Stadium.
Everton are also keeping tabs on Connell and are expected to make their own attempt to sign the versatile left-back, who is seen as a central midfielder in the long term.
And the fact that Liverpool-born Connell is a blue at heart should not go unnoticed.
It’s crazy, it’s surreal to be honest,” Connell said after being called up for the Republic of Ireland’s senior squad for the first time.
“Especially meeting Seamus Coleman, you know. Being from Liverpool but supporting Everton and supporting him through everything, it’s brilliant for me.”

Could Connell be playing alongside Coleman at club level next season too? Quite possibly, with a cash-strapped Bolton side who will start next season with a 12 point deduction seemingly likely to sell most of their prized assets.
And there could be room at Everton for a new left-back with veteran Leighton Baines potentially on his way when his contract expires at the end of next month.
