Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been discussing the possibility of signing Gareth Bale this summer.
And some Wolves fans believe that they could pull off a stunning swoop for the Welshman this summer, although there is some scepticism from others.
We could afford him? Madrid arr willing to pay half of his wages and we could get him cheap. It it was the only other signing we got other than Jiminez then i am happy with that. We also have one of the best medical departments in football. He could stay fit.— Kieran Goodwin (@KieranGoodwin18) May 20, 2019
Would I take him hell yeah do I realistically think we should no big issue being wages. But as we grow bigger n bigger these types of names will continue to be linked with us— Benjamin B Jones (@BennyB_UK) May 20, 2019
If we get Bale, there will be no alcohol left in the Black Country by sunset.— Anthony Benton (@SomeBritishDud1) May 20, 2019
Nice that we're mentioned at these levels but can't see him coming to molineux.....can we?— Mrw1975 (@Mrw19752) May 20, 2019
People laughing at the idea of him going to wolves. The ride us wolves fans have been on I honestly wouldn't be suprised if we signed him— WLVES (@adamBriant1993) May 20, 2019
FFP is more worried about than necessarily needed, the income wolves (could) create may far outweigh— Wolves Xtra (@WolvesXtra) May 20, 2019
Absolutely, Fosun always get value for money on players, Nuno always picks players with the right mentality. Cannot see Bale at Wolves... but would be a helluva statement if they did #WWFC— Stratford upon Wolves (@stratforduponw) May 20, 2019
Would honestly not be shocked to see us sign him tbf. Think he’d take a pay cut to play regularly and with European football we are gonna pull some mad rabbits out the hat this summer imo https://t.co/i8eh8Feykn— Robert Kostur (@Robbo_WWFC) May 20, 2019
Wolves have made rapid progress in recent times and the fact they are even being touted as a possible destination for world-class players like Bale shows just how far they have come.
It would be a major shock if Bale did arrive at Molineux this summer, but Madrid are thought to be desperate to offload him.
The Times have reported that Madrid could let Bale go on a free transfer, six years after his £85 million move (BBC) to the Spanish capital.
If Wolves were to stand any chance of signing Bale they would surely have to smash their wage ceiling to bring him to the club.
