You won’t be forced to instantly make the transition to the PlayStation 5 as The Last Of Us Part 2 and Death Stranding will both be available on PS4.

Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation 5 won’t instantly replace the PlayStation 4 as the aging console will still have a critical role, and The Last Of Us Part 2, Death Stranding, and other AAA exclusive games will be cross-gen.

The super-fast load times of the PlayStation 5 were demonstrated in a comparison video with the PS4 pro at Sony’s 2019 corporate strategy meeting, and the company has assured investors that the PS4 still has a crucial role in the years to come.

As part of Sony’s leaked presentation, a segment titled the “critical role of the PS4” states that the system “will remain the engine of engagement and profitability for the next three years.”

The portion also notes that the PS4 will “provide the fertile early adopter gamer base critical for next-gen success”, and that an “Outstanding roster of exclusive AAA games” are still to come.

Next to this quotation, there are placeholder box art images of The Last Of Us Part 2, Death Stranding, and Ghost Of Tsushima, which basically confirms the rumours that these Sony exclusives will be cross-gen.
