Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Celta Vigo striker.

Maxi Gomez faces the media during his presentation as a new player for Celta de Vigo at Estadio Balaidos on June 28, 2017 in Vigo, Spain.

According to a report from the Daily Star, Tottenham have recently held talks with one of Maxi Gomez’s representatives regarding a potential summer move for the Uruguayan hitman.

The 22-year-old has a release clause inserted into his current contract with Celta Vigo believed to be worth £43.5 million, according to the Guardian, and he really would be an excellent addition for Spurs.

Tottenham are in desperate need of more quality competition for Harry Kane, especially with Fernando Llorente set to leave on a free this summer, and Gomez could be just the ticket.

The Daily Star claims that Spurs have already held talks with the Uruguay international’s agent, whilst Liverpool and West Ham have cooled their interest in the striker.

The Celta Vigo hitman racked up 13 goals and five assists in 35 La Liga appearances this season, and he seems to possess all of the attributes needed to be a hit in the Premier League.

He is powerful, strong in the air, is comfortable when playing with his back to go, and he can also make tireless runs into the channels.

Gomez is the complete package, and for just £43.5 million, Tottenham could be on the verge of securing themselves a real bargain.
