Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the club with Liverpool attacking midfielder Adam Lallana.

According to The Express, Lallana is open to returning to Southampton from Premier League rivals Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the 31-year-old has no future at Anfield under manager Jurgen Klopp, and that the England international has told his friends that he would be ready to move back to the Saints.

Southampton are claimed to be aware of Lallana’s wish and are monitoring his situation, with Liverpool reported to ask for around £13m as transfer fee for him.

Lallana started his professional club football career at Southampton and played for the Saints until 2014 before earning the move to Liverpool.

The attacking midfielder has not been a huge success at Anfield, and injuries have impended the impact the 31-year-old could have made.

Meanwhile, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier believes that 18-year-old striker Michael Obafemi will play a prominent role for the Saints next season, and told Sky Sports: "I think we still need someone else up there other than Danny Ings as a good all-round option.

"With his injury problems it is always good to have someone there and you tend to play 4-4-2 towards the end of the season.

"Shane Long works his socks off for the team and Michael Obafemi will feature a lot more next season, but he is very young and has a lot to do still."
