Liverpool had been linked with a deal for the young left-back.

Lloyd Kelly signs his contract to join AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium on May 18, 2019 in Bournemouth, England.

Liverpool have missed out on the signing of Bristol City youngster Lloyd Kelly.

The Mirror reported that the Reds were keen on Kelly, prior to his move to Bournemouth which was completed over the weekend.

Kelly joined for £13 million, becoming Bournemouth's first deal of the summer.

The England under-20 captain hopes to compete straight away for a starting spot for The Cherries.

At Liverpool he would have been merely a back up for Andy Robertson, however there is a place which needs to be filled behind him, with Alberto Moreno no longer seen as up to the required standard.

Liverpool do have a young talented left-back of their own, Adam Lewis, who will benefit from their decision not to sign Kelly.

However, this could be a big chance missed to sign one of England's top young talents, and if that is the case, it's an opportunity missed.
