Liverpool are repeatedly interested in signing the Ajax ace.
Well-renowned Spanish football expert Guillem Balague suggested that Liverpool have already contacted Ajax ace Matthijs de Ligt regarding a potential summer switch to Anfield, when speaking on BBC’s Five Live Football Daily podcast on Thursday night.
The Mirror reported earlier this month that Barcelona are leading the race to sign the £60 million-rated centre-back, but Liverpool are also interested in bringing the talented teen to Merseyside.
De Ligt is an incredible talent, and he is already one of the best central defenders in world football, in spite of his tenders years.
The Holland international would be a superb addition for the Reds, but can they beat Barca in the race for his signature?
Balague suggested that the Catalan giants believe that have the De Ligt deal tied up, whilst claiming that he has also been talking to Liverpool, when speaking on BBC’s Five Live Football Daily podcast on Thursday night:
“They (Barcelona) think they have De Ligt, even though both Liverpool and PSG have also been talking to him.”
Liverpool already have Virgil van Dijk, and should they add De Ligt to their ranks, they could very well have the best central defensive partnership in the game.
It will not be easy to convince him into moving to Anfield rather than the Camp Nou, but Jurgen Klopp needs to do everything within his power to make it happen nevertheless.
