According to The Sun, West Ham United are considering handing Andy Carroll a new contract.

Carroll is out of contract at West Ham this summer and will become a free agent, but the Hammers reportedly want to keep the former Liverpool and Newcastle United striker at the London Stadium.

It has been reported that the Premier League clubs are considering handing the 30-year-old a "minimal basic salary plus heavily incentivised payments”.

Disappointment for West Ham United fans?

West Ham fans will have sympathy for Carroll due to the injuries he has had and will feel that the England international striker has been unlucky.

However, one suspects that fans of the London outfit will want the club to move on and simply release the striker.

After all, if the Hammers are to progress as a club and challenge for top-six finishes in the Premier League, then they have to make hard decisions and have to do what is best for the club.
