Could “John Wick: Chapter 3” finally dethrone Endgame?

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum dir. Chad Stahelski 2019

John Wick: Chapter 3 is destined for success this weekend.

It's here. John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum has hit cinemas and it's already stunned audiences and critics alike with its magisterial blend of calculated violence and cinematic style. Chad Stahelski's John Wick arrived in 2014 and gradually attracted more and more fans with glowing word of mouth. Before long, action fanatics were declaring the long-overdue return to form for Keanu Reeves as one of the most remarkable triumphs in recent memory.

Those who praised the film immediately noted the property's franchise potential, and demand for a sequel eventually resulted in John Wick: Chapter 2. The sequel amplified the insanity of its predecessor, favouring outrageous spectacle above all things; the outcome was desirable, to say the least.

Action movies rarely came this confident, gorgeous, vicious, or even humorous. It was an odd concoction, but one we knew we'd love to indulge in again. Recently, John Wick: Chapter 3 answered our prayers and elaborated on everything which made the second instalment a roaring success.

We welcome back old characters and witness the introduction of some fresh faces, but really, we're back to see just how far Reeves and Stahelski can propel this series into chaos. We aren't disappointed, and the first and final acts boast some of the best action sequences we've seen this decade; perhaps this century. It's a winner in almost every respect, and multiplex audiences haven't seen anything like this on the big screen for some time. It's an intoxicating hybrid of martial arts, comedy, classic action and more — fortunately, it's set to storm the box office

As you'll know, the Russo's Avengers: Endgame is on track to become the highest grossing movie of all time, and has dominated the box-office since its April release. However, it looks like Parabellum could knock it off this weekend's top spot.

As outlined by Box Office Pro, Stahelski's film is predicted to make $52.5 million domestically in just three days, which would be a new record for the franchise. In the wake of this news, they expect Endgame will move down a spot with earnings of $36 million. It's wonderful that such a well-crafted and slick action vehicle is reaching a mass audience, but the fact that it could surpass Endgame this weekend really shows that John Wick is simply unstoppable.

In other news, these Robert Pattinson movies suggest he'd make a good Batman after all.
