The Toffees left-back has been a sensation since arriving at Goodison Park last summer.
Lucas Digne has issued some very kind words about the Everton fanbase following his double triumph at the club’s end of season awards.
The 25-year-old Toffees left-back won the Fans’ Player of the Season accolade and shared the Players’ Player of the Season award with midfielder Idrissa Gueye.
Digne has made a huge impact at Goodison Park since joining from Barcelona in August 2018 on a five-year deal for £18.1million (Transfermarkt).
The Frenchman made his debut on 11 August 2018 in the last four minutes of a 2–2 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers (BBC Sport) and since then has gone from strength to strength.
With 35 Premier League games under his belt yielding four goals, four assists (Transfermarkt) and great all-round contributions for the team, he is firmly one of the first names on Marco Silva’s teamsheet.
Indeed, as per Everton’s official website, Digne’s tally of 52 chances created was higher than any other defender in Europe’s top-five leagues while his 280 crosses was the most provided by any player in England’s top division.
“It’s a big pleasure for me to win this award because the fans chose me,” Digne told the club site about having won the fan award. “I have a very good feeling with the Evertonians.
“They welcomed me the best way I could imagine. From the beginning against Valencia, it was an amazing atmosphere in Goodison and it is always just amazing to play in front of them.”
