Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are six points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.
Celtic boss Lennon faces an uncertain future at Parkhead, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Celtic’s recent defeat to Rangers has led to increased calls from Bhoys supporters for their side to look to appoint a different manager at the end of the campaign, rather than handing Lennon an extension.
However, Lennon feels that the fact Rangers have failed to win a trophy with Steven Gerrard at the helm this campaign shows that chasing a big name doesn’t always guarantee success.
“Rangers brought in a big name this year,” he said. “They’ve got no trophies to show for it – so it doesn’t guarantee it."
Rangers fans will, of course, argue that they have improved under Gerrard - even if they have no silverware to show for it.
Celtic supporters, meanwhile, have seen some worrying signs that they have regressed since Lennon took over from Brendan Rodgers.
If Lennon is to have any chance to staying on at Parkhead he will surely have to win the Scottish Cup in two weekends’ time.
Celtic take on Hearts at Hampden Park, looking to win the treble for the third season in a row.
