Tottenham are reportedly tracking Isaac Hayden.
It’s fair to be a little sceptical over reports linking Tottenham to Isaac Hayden.
Hayden is desperate for a move back down south for personal reasons, and The Chronicle claim Spurs are interested.
Tottenham should really be in the market for higher calibre players, having reached the Champions League final this season.
Hayden, 24, is behind the curve in terms of his peers, with only two seasons in the Premier League to his name.
This came after his admission he wanted to emulate Dele Alli and Eric Dier.
Hayden began his career in Arsenal’s youth team, captaining the under-21s.
Despite his promise, he was not given a proper chance by Arsene Wenger.
Speaking about his decision to leave The Gunners in 2016, he told The Northern Echo: “They have a lot of players, I wasn’t going to get a chance, so I had to go to a club and to get a chance to come to a club as big as this was great.
“But if you look at players my age you could probably think of two English lads, Dele Alli and Eric Dier, maybe, who are my age playing regularly in the Premier League.”
At Newcastle he has got his experience, helping them get promoted from the Championship and then featuring the last two season in the top flight.
Whether he can step up to Tottenham’s level is another matter.
