Rio Ferdinand has reacted to Leeds United going out of the play-offs, by simply praising Derby County boss Frank Lampard and assistant manager Jody Morris.

Ferdinand used to play for Leeds, and he watched his former side fall to defeat against Derby.

But Ferdinand seemed pleased for his friend Lampard, who he has played at England level with and worked as a pundit alongside.

Leeds’ match with Derby was hugely dramatic, as Lampard’s side won 4-2 on the evening.

Leeds had taken a commanding position in the tie when Stuart Dallas fired them into the lead from close range early on.

However, Derby came back strongly with Jack Marriott scoring just before the break to strike fear into the Whites’ defence.

Leeds ended up conceding a further three times in the second half, as they crashed out of the play offs in devastating fashion.

Leeds will now be playing Championship football again next season, while Derby will face Aston Villa at Wembley for a place in the Premier League.
