Manchester United could launch a £50million double raid on Crystal Palace.

According to The Sun, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign Patrick van Aanholt as part of a £50million double swoop on Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils endured a dismal end to the season, even losing at home to already-relegated Cardiff City on the final day of the campaign.

That means that boss Solskjaer will be looking for big changes this summer, with a busy transfer window expected at Old Trafford as the Norwegian attempts to sort out his underperforming squad.

The Sun now report that United want Palace right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which is no great surprise, but the move for his signature may be a £50million double move, as Solskjaer also wants Van Aanholt.

Few could have expected the Dutchman to be a United target, but Solskjaer is understood to want experienced competition for Luke Shaw at left back – and Van Aanholt fits the bill.

The 28-year-old hit three goals and two assists from left back this season, and whilst his attacking play has never really been in doubt, some have questioned his defensive ability.

Solskjaer is seemingly confident enough though, in a move which may leave United fans scratching their heads, as they'd expect a greater calibre of player than Van Aanholt.
