It looks like John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum fans can expect a sequel.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is in UK cinemas now and action enthusiasts are flocking to witness Keanu Reeves' finest work yet. Chapter 2 left Mr. Wick fleeing for his life, and this latest instalment brilliantly picks up right where we left off. Our protagonist has one hour until every assassin in New York City begins to pursue fortune in his demise. It's an incredibly suspenseful opening, and once "John Wick: Excommunicado" is thrown into effect, the audience is treated to a barrage of flawlessly orchestrated action sequences.
Chapter 3 is the most violent, explosive and satisfying of the series, with the cast and crew setting a towering new standard for Hollywood action cinema. It's impossible not to admire or immerse yourself in the craft on display, as every single manoeuvre displays such close attention. Stahelski makes an overwhelming case for cinematic violence as art here, aided by mesmerising backdrops which provide the canvas for carnage; it's both brutal and beautiful simultaneously.
Many anticipated that this would conclude the trilogy, and for a moment it really does look like John Wick - the man, the myth, the legend - has battled his last adversary. However, we really should have known that this was the beginning of something larger.
Parabellum is Latin for "prepare for war". Now, those who knew this thought it foreshadowed the film itself. After all, Chapter 2 established that Mr. Wick had embarked on a one-man war with the high table. Yet, it appears Chapter 3 was merely the stage of preparation. The war is about to begin.
In wake of the latest film's conclusion, we're confident that Chapter 4 is imminent, and honestly, we couldn't be happier about that. It's hard to imagine them topping the spectacle on offer here, but we're sure Stahelski, Reeves and the crew will strive to deliver something spectacular once again.
We should have taken notice of the title beforehand, but nevertheless, we're now prepared for war and anticipating what's likely to be called John Wick: Chapter 4 - Bellum.
